- Prices for PS3 in Europe are confirmed
-
Apparently PS3's retail release is on 23rd March, and the price of a 60GB unit is going to be 425 pounds, and this figured was quoted some time back by Ray Maguire, head of Sony UK. This isn't official news yet, however confirmation from Sony is expected in the next week. What strikes us odd is that Sony won't be releasing the 20GB system in UK at first. Is this another one of Sony's money making schemes?
To strengthen out doubts even further, it seems that the 60GB version will be available all over Europe for 599 pounds. And after a little currency conversion, it is apparent that in UK the system is available for 649 euros. Hmm..interesting, but if sources are to be believed, it's not Sony that is responsible for this price margin. British retailers are the ones wanting to seek a bigger profit than the rest of Europe.
I fail to see why anyone will go for such an expensive system when Nintendo's Wii is available for half its price. Besides this, the Wii has much more fun games to enjoy, and so far the PS3 has been a disappointment in that department as well. Sony really needs to get its act together, and do something about the prices.
