Will Linux users have to bid World of Warcraft good-bye?

logo.gif.jpgDo you play World of Warcraft? Do you use Linux? Do you use Cedega to run World of Warcraft on Linux? If yes, then you are in for some bad news. So far, Cedega had been working just fine, but all this has changed yesterday when numerous users of the software began to report being banned from World of Warcraft. They were hit with the folowing message informing them of their ban : This account has been found to have employed third party software designed to automate many aspects of the World of Warcraft game play experience. Such software runs contrary to the essence of World of Warcraft and provides an advantage over other players. In addition, use of this software can lead to exploitation and destabilization of the World of Warcraft server economy. As such, this account has been closed and will not be reopened under any circumstances.

Apparently this occured, because of a glitch in Blizzard's automated anti-hacking scans. So, before all you Cedega users start twitching and spasming, Transgaming is trying to resolve this issue with the help of Blizzard's engineering team. Transgaming is offering to reinstate your account, so do send their support team your account name (if banned). And don't worry, it is not the end of the world if nothing works, just the end of World of warcraft.

On a more serious note, all my doubts of Microsoft taking over the world have been confirmed! It is true, that what we most feared is true!
