wii-headphones-turtle-beach2.jpgTurtle-Beach was a company known in the early 1990s for making sound cards, however at one point they seemed to have faded out of the picture. But they are all set to make their come back by providing gamers what they want most: Wii goodies. This is a smart plan to cash in on the Wii's tremendous success. There are coming out with Ear Force W3 wireless headphones which is compatible with the Wii, and an audio splitter cable is included in the pack. Get healthy with your Wii

1150203694.jpgI know how much I hate hitting the gym, but I'm not against the idea of shedding a few pounds. And if I could combine staying fit with playing games, I'd be completely thrilled. Luckily, Nintendo' Wii has made it possible. I wonder if the Japanese games giant had foreseen this particular benifit though. Not too long ago, Mickey DeLorenzo lost a good 9 pounds by chalking out a Wii workout of 30 minutes daily for six weeks. The results have been astonishngly good with his Wii experiments, nine pounds is no joke!

Which is the quietest next generation system?

514b576973b44b64bc5d91ac840c35f5.jpgHave you ever wondered which of the next generation consoles is the noisest? I hadn't, but somebody has wondered about it enough to run a few tests to erase any doubts people might have. The first test is the location test. The tester believed that maybe the location had something to do with the noise, as when the consoles turns hot, the fans turn on to reduce the heat. However, he didn't quite get the chance to move around his consoles to conduct this test. But, let's move on, there are other methods.

Sony promoting Nintendo?

thumb_ops2wii.jpgSony has really out-done itself this time. Wasn't falling flat on its face after the launch of the PS3 enough? Hasn't Sony had enough of widely popular belief that it has lost to Nintendo's Wii? Apparently not. This time they have gone as far as to promote the Wii on their own site! Just because you don't have a description for the PS2 version of Metal slug doesn't mean you advertise the Wii one! Don't believe us? Take a look at the following image.

German Wii Golf says 'ASS'

golf.jpgWe came across a really funny Wii Golf video earlier. First off, the person gets the golf ball in the hole in just one shot, which is quite amazing in itself. But that is not what interests us. Now's the funny part: when the shot is successful 'ASS' flashes on the screen. Of course, it is the german version on the game, but we were expecting something like 'Well Done' or 'Sehr Gut'. Wonder what other interesting text these german versions have. Video after jump..

KDND fires 10 employees following Strange's death

10753114.jpgJennifer Strange from California died a couple of days back due to water intoxication, and yes you are reading the cause of death right. How did this happen? She participated in KDND's 'Hold Your Wee for a WIi' contest, in the hope of winning Nintendo's new console for her family. The contest required contestants to drink 8 ounces of water in 2 minutes and then repeat the same after 10 a 10 minutes break without heading to rest rooms. But the seemingly harmless contest resulted in the tragic death of Ms. Strange. Initially, the radio had not done much except offer a few kind words to the grieving family. However, now KDND has cancelled the show 'Morning Rave', and fired 10 employees. Losing their jobs is little punishment for being careless enough to cost someone their life, but hey..it is something.

Difference between Wii and PS3

A non-techie friend of mine recently consulted me on the getting the right console. I immediately launched into a tirade of advantages and dis-advantages of each system with what the future may hold, the sales figures, the fan opinions, the games available. After pausing to catch my breath; he asked me, "So, which one should I go for". Rather than strangle him with my bare hands, I decided to explain things to him in this much easier manner.

Wii Sports has health benefits

357826514_2e0fb74d7e.jpgA Wii fan and quite possibly a couch-potato-turned-into-a-health-freak had chalked out a Wii Sports 6 weeks programme for himself. He calls this game plan the 'Wii Sports Experiment'. The idea behind this is that he wouldn't alter any of his day to day habits and activities, except that he would incorporate 30 minutes of Wii play into his daily schedule. This certainly is a very different type of fitness programme and he has actually stuck to it religiously. This includes keeping track of his weight, BMI, calories burnt per session/per game, heart rate (at rest), Wii fitness age, and additional notes/soreness.

The Godfather on PS3 and Wii

godfather.jpgEA's Godfather makes it way to the next gen consoles: PS3 and Wii. Godfather : The Don's edition is planned for the PS3, whereas the Godfather: Blackhand Edition is aimed at the Wii. This certainly is some fantastic news for Godfather fans. These new versions are not really brand new, but they will contain much more content than the previous games. The PS3 version will have extended gameplay in the form of “The Corleone Expansion Pack.” At the Wii's end, the game will be redesigned to make maximum use of the Wiimote.

Wii leads to a Strange death

wii_logo.jpgBrace yourselves for a really bizarre death of a woman in the hope of getting a Wii for her kids. Sacramento''s KDND The End is a radio show that cooked up a contest with the prize as Nintendo's newest console. While this seems normal enough, the rules of the contest are anything but that. The contestants were required to drink eight ounces of water every 15 minutes for 90 minutes without, well..relieving themselves. This silly contest was called 'Hold Your Wee for a Wii".

Nintendo Wii beats the Playstation 3 black and blue

ps3-clear-black-front.jpg
Sony launched the Playstation 3 with a lot of fan fare. They had good reason to, the Playstation 3 could very well mean the difference between salvation and starvation for the troubled Sony executives. Unforunately well after the launch, it seems that the latter holds true for them. Sony's brand image as well as its profitability are both taking hits, especially after the exploding battery episode and there were high hopes from the Playstation 3 to redeem the company. However close competitor Nintendo has allowed Sony no relief on this front either. Despite being launched by almost 3 weeks after the Playstation, the Nintendo Wii has managed to clock up 1.14 million units in Japan. Comparatively, in the Japanese markets (which are considered as extremely important by console makers) the Playstation 3 managed to just reach the 534,336 mark. This was significant since Sony was positively hopeful of easily making it to the 1 million mark as well.
