Google to bring ads in video games?

xin_28201042109076401714418.jpgOh, no! It's really happening! Well, the talks are anyway. Apparently Google is looking to broaden its horizon, and unfortunately that could extend to video games. Google has already conquered the Web, but isn't satisfied with just this. Wall Street Journal believes that soon ads will feature in video games. Google is looking to get hold of Adscape Media Inc. which will let it break into the world of games.

This is bad news for people like me who don't want to be bombarded by ads while playing games, but good news for the various advertisers of course. If rumours are to be believed, a deal could take place between the two companies next week itself.

These ads will be most popular in car and sport games, because it is highly possible that they will be featured on billboards in the games. Reports suggest that Electronic Arts is all for this marketing idea, and many other developers could follow suit.

I agree, that this will not be very inconvenient in sport games and such. But, it's just annoying to know that you cannot escape advertisments! Not even if you seek refuge in the vitual world!

so are they going to give us the games for free? personally if the ads are in any way obtrusive i will stop buying them unless they give me the game, theres no way i would buy madden for 60+bucks only to have to site through longer loads because of ads, or say even "tv commercial" style breaks in gameplay to make it "its in the game", fuck all that shit.
