US Army boot camps use SNES for training

snesmacs2.jpgIf serving your country is not reason enough for you to join the army, then maybe playing Super Nintendo's specially designed system for military training lure you into signing up. A hard to get cartridge of the game Multipurpose Arcade Combat Simulator is for sale on ebay. Don't you go about getting excited yet, unless of course, you have a gun or more specifically a modified M-16 in your homes or where ever it is you are. This gun game is made for US army boot camps and is being sold for $499.99. Buy it before somebody else does, and while you are at it don't forget to stop at your local super markets to get that modified M-16 to go with it as it doesn't use the regular Super Scope. New York sees a new games' bill

pic_44706.jpgGame laws are getting stricter by the day. A new bill concerning games was presented on 3rd January in New York by Democrat Keith Wright. It appears that the bill prohibits sale of games which are considered racist or use derogatory language or profanity to anyone below the age of 18. And to make sure that this law is not messed with, retailers are required to check ID's of anyone who don't look over the age of 30 before selling them games, that fall in the above mentioned categories.

NFS : The Island : Good news or just another rumour?

need-for-speed-most-wanted-20051128115931687.jpgThere's some great news for NFS fans. Apparently, Need For Speed : The Island has a bunch of features from the original Need for Speed series, however, with a slight twist. This time you get up to 15 computer-controlled opponents or 7 human opponents in online play. Another fun feature is that it is now possible to roam over 1000 miles of open road. To keep you company here, there will be AI traffic as well as human traffic. And the good news doesn't end here and isn't only limited to NFS fans.

Mario's Wall of Fame?

mario_wall_002%281%29.jpgWhat happens when the two very different worlds of Mario and reality come together? Mario artwork on brick walls, of course. We came across images earlier that show familiar sights from Mario's world on building. Some creative Mario fan has turned boring brown brick walls into a delight for Mario fans. I can imagine driving past something like this and exclaiming in delight to see my favourite game on walls.

Gaming consoles from the 70's

magnavoxodyssey400.jpgIt's hard to imagine that there was a time when Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft had no hand in the video game industry. But there was that era, it's true. Atari ruled the roost then. We've picked the 5 best early consoles from the 70's for you. And yes they apparently did care about video games back then and not just herbal refreshment sessions.

Mario and Donkey Kong share a beer

bob.dob.cheers.jpgWe all know how Mario and Donkey Kong are always at war. But not anymore! Well, at least not in this painting. Here, they are shown sharing a couple of beers like old college buddies. We might not see them so friendly ever again, but do we even want to? I prefer them being against each other rather than them teaming up!

Saddam fails to destroy Nintendo

nintendo_gameboy.jpgWhile we love Nintendo bashing as much as you do for making straps that just wont do what they are supposed to; we do owe it to them to report the good news too once in a while. Take for example this Gameboy Nintendo. This baby got damaged and quite significantly we may add as is visible from the pictures and yet remains completely playable. The damage occured during the gulf war. While we are not sure if any pieces were replaced, it remains unlikely since the damage is extensive and the entire device would have been thought to be scrapped. Kudos to the build quality of Nintendo.

Limited handpainted NES consoles available on ebay

1752-noscale-mariones.jpgDid you enjoy your NES? I sure did, and I was very happy to see that seven handpainted units are being sold on ebay by a user called HelloKitty. However, when I thought of the price, i expected to be hit with something ridiculously high. But i was pleasantly surprised, as this user is charging only $125 for these super cool consoles. The painting is great, and gives you a chance to show off your love for the NES games. The seven different hit games the consoles feature are Metroid, Bubble Bobble, Kid Icarus, Megaman 2, Dragon Quest, Super Mario 3 and Zelda. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the Mario and Zelda consoles.
