- Xbox 360 messenger bag
With the looks very much similar to Xbox 360, the Xbox 360 messenger bag has a very tempting external looks, that it will boast a decent degree of functionality. However, both products don’t quite have what it takes inside to cut it. This messenger bag is fair enough as a normal bag, but it fails miserably in its main purpose - to tote around the Xbox 360 and a bunch of peripherals. You will most probably suffer from a sore shoulder after carrying the Xbox 360 and its power supply after a couple of blocks anyway. You can buy one of these bags from Amazon at a price tag of $50.- July 25, 2006 - 2:27 AM | Related Entries - Xbox 360 | Comments (0)
- Sony patents new gaming interface
Japanese Web site Tech-On! is reporting on a new Sony Computer Entertainment patent for a potentially Wii-like motion-sensing interface. The patented process would allow a game system to view a rod like controller on a two-dimensional camera image and map its position in 3D space. The title of the patent specifically notes that the process is intended to let users control the action in a game. Technologies like this have been devised before, but they've required multiple cameras to work. In March GameSpot reported on a Microsoft patent that required two cameras. The Tech-On! report indicates that the patent leverages the PlayStation 3's Cell processor, which it says is "optimized for image recognition."- July 21, 2006 - 5:14 PM | Related Entries - General | Comments (0)

With the aim of delivering up to 200,000 machines this month, Asustek has begun production of Sony’s PlayStation 3. - Consoles waste GBP 70 million of energy every year
A British government energy review due out this week will claim that videogames consoles are responsible for GBP 70 million of wasted energy each year. The report will highlight what has been widely known for some time which consumer electronics devices are leaking more and more energy while in standby mode. a group of bloggers in the United States reported that while the original PlayStation leaked just 0.2W - accounting for some 1.752kWh wasted each year, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 both leak a massive 2W, or 17.52kWh each year. The energy review proposes a number of measures to minimize energy waste, including working with electronics companies to phase out costly standby routines that drain energy while the device is not in use. There are chances that in near future the manufacturers may decide to willingly adjust their hardware in to cope with new energy review's recommendations.

- Sony pulls controversial PSP ads

A white woman grappling with a black woman, that's what was Sony PSP ads in the Netherlands which caused many to engage in some grappling of their own, mostly with issues and allegations of racism. Sony has now confirmed that they have yanked the ads and banished them to a mysterious marketing misfire graveyard. The decision was made based on the global reaction to an ad that was largely aimed at a specific country said a Sony representative. The representative also said that, we wish to apologize to those who perceived the advert differently to that intended. Sony will apply greater sensitivity in our selection of campaign imagery and their impact in other countries. One shocking thing was that Sony claims to have only received a single complaint from within the Netherlands. It clear from this that Internet always has a global eye on the moves of a large and popular corporation.- July 13, 2006 - 1:54 PM | Related Entries - PSP | Comments (0)

- Analyst: PS3 to Overthrow Xbox 360 in 2009, Leaving Wii in 3rd
If three gamers are asked, which of the three consoles will win in the next generation and it's a guarantee that you'll get three different answers. So it's always better to ask the people who are a little bit more in-the-know, as is the case with Analyst Jason Anderson. At the MI6 Game Marketing Conference, Anderson predicts that, the Xbox 360 will be the leader for a couple more years, just due to its early entry. According to him by 2009, the PS3 will go beyond the 360 in the "installed base race", leading to Sony winning the battle overall. Further he concluded that the Gamecube, will follow in a slow but respectable 3rd place. If people go for brand name then Sony's already got millions of devotees more than Nintendo or Microsoft. Anderson's predictions will be correct if we see a price drop by 2009 for the PS3.- July 13, 2006 - 2:27 AM | Related Entries - General | Comments (0)
